Stand by Me is a nongovernmental organization with the aim of rescuing children who are orphaned, abandoned, abused and those who are victims of war, disease and extreme poverty. They seek to restore their dignity and give them hope for the future. Stand by Me is caring for over 3000 children in some of the world’s poorest countries. Through their children’s homes and schools, they provide care for some of the world’s most vulnerable children, transforming their lives. The organization seeks to strengthen existing families where possible and places orphaned or unprotected children in family-style homes only as a last resort. Stand by Me builds and runs schools that provide a life changing education to enable these children escape the cycle of poverty. The organization is largely funded by individual donations and is run by its global team of volunteers and recruits.
