The Kenya Council of Imams and Ulamaa (KCIU) established in 2001 is a registered society in Kenya. KCIU has a mission of promoting and enhancing community empowerment in the areas of religion, health, education, social and economic development.

As a faith-based organization, KCIU has logically entered humanitarian service in the country. The primary reason for contributing to the social welfare of Kenyans relates to the fact that poverty, need, social problems and social exclusion respects no religion. Therefore in her humanitarian services, KCIU works with Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

KCIU has extensive experience in the management of projects from various funding sources and an established field presence in the counties of Nakuru, Baringo, Laikipia, Kajiado and Narok in the Rift Valley region and in Mombasa, Kwale and Kilifi in the Coast Region. Current programs include the USAID’s funded APHIAPlus Nuru ya Bonde OVC Project, the community PMTCT Project funded by the Positive Action for Children Fund and the FGM/C Project.

KCIU partners and works closely with local communities, the Government of Kenya’s relevant ministries and County Ministries of Health.

KCIU’s strengths include; experienced, trained and skillful human resource, technical (financial & program) management expertise, dedicated, knowledgeable and effective board, team spirit among staff and board members, history of success and experience, wide area of coverage and visibility and goodwill from community. KCIU has policies that guide its operation including the Partnership Policy, Human Resource Policy, Financial Management Policy, and Volunteer Policy.
