The Principles of International Charity were devised by US charities in response to an invitation from the US Treasury to propose ways of safeguarding charitable funds from diversion to terrorist uses. Eight broad principles have been identified to assist charities in developing their own appropriate procedures to guard against diversion of funds toward terrorist activities. The fundamental principles underlying the diversity of due diligence procedures that effectively minimise the risk of diversion of charitable assets.
