The Down Syndrome Association Western Cape is one of six Down Syndrome Associations in South Africa, operating under the umbrella organisation, Down Syndrome South Africa (DSSA). The Association in the Western Cape helps persons with Down syndrome and similar intellectual disabilities (SID) live quality lives as independently as possible. The Association provides information, counselling, and other services from before birth into adulthood. Services include the provision of skills development programmes, supporting the provision of respite care, developing social skills, advocacy and lobbying for the rights of persons with DS and SID.
