Nazareth House

Unverified non-profit organisation

Nazareth House is an NGO in Cape Town, South Africa, that provides medical and relational care to the most vulnerable individuals from the Cape Flats.

The organisation offers a 24-hour place of safety for deserted children, as well as medical care for terminally-ill children. Services are aligned according to the specialised Children’s Programme and the Care for the Aged Programme. Both these programmes offer holistic care that includes medical, social, nutritional, housing, recreational and educational services. Nazareth House cares for approximately 106 frail elderly per year and offers residential care to 23 children with physical and mental disabilities and a 24-hour place of safety for toddlers and babies who are either abandoned or removed from their families for their safety. The organisation also provides family reunification services to restore families, if it is in the child’s best interest, or finds suitable foster care. In addition, specialised medical and emotional care is provided to 14 children with untreatable medical conditions and who do not have a refuge in their final days. Nazareth House also runs two cottages where healthier boys and girls live in a normal home environment with a housemother.
