Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) is the world’s largest publicly traded international oil and gas company, providing energy that helps underpin growing economies and improve living standards around the world. ExxonMobil’s Chad/Cameroon Development Project financed partly by the World Bank is aimed at developing and marketing oil resources from Chad and Cameroon. The Project has undertaken public consultation, is responsible for community and on-the-job safety and is responsible for compensation to land users and affected communities. The project also runs HIV/AIDS and malaria health education and prevention programmes, and supports local employment.
