Concerned Action For Health (CAFH) is a not for profit, non partisan registered community based organisation founded in 2005 with the aim of addressing the poor state of health services in northern Uganda. CAFH formerly started work from Pajule and Lapul sub counties in Pader District and later expanded its services to Palaro Sub County in Gulu District.

It also works towards promoting positive public health practices, socio-economic livelihoods of the people, protecting water and environment and striving to bring equality between Men and Women.

CAFH is registered under Gulu District Local Government 2008 (Registration number CDR 1949) and in Pader District local government and Pader NGO Forum 2006 (Registration number 065).

Vision, Mission, Goal and Objectives:

Vision: CAFH envisions an empowered and inspired society enjoying full health and basic rights.

Mission: To provide access to health services, livelihoods, while protecting the environment.

Goal: To create conducive environment for sustainable Health and socio-economic development.

Objectives: The objectives for which the organisation is formed include a) To provide quality health information services and promote health seeking behaviors in the community. b) To ensure safe water for use and promote hygienic sanitary behaviour in the community. c) To improve on the socio-economic livelihoods and welfare of the community. d) To provide quality psychosocial support, and rehabilitations and interventions.

CAFH operates in the Sub-County of Palaro in Gulu District but extends it services beyond the sub county to benefit Patiko and Awach Sub County.

The project activities areas are -

Health:
• Reproductive health component of ASRH, GBV, STD/STIs.
HIV/AIDS activities of home base care, follow up of PHA, condom distribution, HIV counseling and testing.
• Creating awareness around health issues including family planning, child and maternal health, immunisation etc.

Psychosocial support:
• Psychosocial counseling and support of GBV Survivors, OVCs, EVIs.
• Community mobilisation and sensitisation campaign to stop stigma and discrimination against PHAs, GBV Survivors, OVCS, and EVIS.
• Peer counseling and recreational activities for adolescents.

Water & sanitation:
• Personal hygiene education, promotion of safe water for use through protection of water sources.
• Community health education on safe water storage and community waste disposal.

Livelihood:
• Improving and sustaining socio-economic welfare, food security and nutrition, care and support.
• Mitigating the impact of conflict in the context of access to health and socio-economic services for GBV Survivors, EVIs, OVCs and PHA.
