This mandate was extended indefinitely in 1953, and UNICEF now works in 191 countries throughout the world. In Brazil, UNICEF is present in 9 offices and its activities focus on work for child rights, educational inclusion, and monitoring programmes aimed at eradicating child labour and domestic violence.
