United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-Ecuador

Unverified non-profit organisation

United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, is an international cooperation agency for development that promotes the right of every woman, man, boy, girl, and young teen, to enjoy a healthy life free of HIV / AIDS equal opportunity for all people. For more than 25 years in Ecuador, UNFPA has been working on priorities for the eradication of extreme poverty and hunger. The work of the UNFPA involves promotion of gender equality and empowerment of women, reduction of child mortality and improvement of maternal health and combating HIV / AIDS with an intercultural approach. In Ecuador, UNFPA successfully advocated for the inclusion of family planning as a right in the National Constitution and in the National Development Plan. UNFPA is also assisting the Government in seeking support to ensure continuity in the supply and distribution of reproductive health commodities, including contraceptives. UNFPA-supported advocacy activities are an integral part of the overall country programme. On-going advocacy activities are aimed, in particular, at disadvantaged communities and adolescents.
