Intrahealth is committed to improving the health and well-being of people living in countries and communities all over the world. Their focus on health workers because they believe that an “equally distributed, skilled, motivated, and productive health workforce is essential to improving global health outcomes” (Pape Gaye, CEO).

The mission of IntraHealth International is to empower health workers and the systems that support them; strengthening systems that support health care providers; fostering links among providers, clients and communities; developing the capacity of people and institutions; applying systematic approaches to identify and solve problems in health care delivery; and, improving education and training programs for the health care workforce. Also by fostering local solutions to harness technology and by leveraging and value the power of partnerships. Intrahealth has served the public health needs of developing countries for 30 years. Founded in 1979 as the Intrah program at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, IntraHealth incorporated as an independent nonprofit organization in 2003.

IntraHealth has worked in more than 90 countries throughout its history, and currently has programs in over 30 countries in Africa, the Americas, Asia, and Eurasia.
