USAID is an independent federal government agency that supports long-term economic and social development through policy dialogue, conflict prevention, technology transfer in sectors such as health, agriculture, education and housing, and promotion of trade and investment. U.S. assistance is channelled through programme priority areas as identified by the focus country. Since 1992, USAID activities in Azerbaijan have included nearly $284 million in humanitarian and development assistance.
