This orphanage has been running since 2000 and has 88 orphans. These orphans get their basic life needs and their education met through donations from well-wishers. Lately, the orphanage is experiencing financial difficulties. Kenya had political violence and drought/ famine since Dec 07 which left hundreds and hundreds of families homeless, left hundreds of children without parents, left many hungry because many people were running from their homes and for their lives to the places that were not affected by the political war. This orphanage was ‘lucky’ among others since it wasn’t directly affected by the crashes. Those families that moved to this area are begging this orphanage to admit their children but the cost of living has become so high such that it cannot take more kids in because as for now, they do not have enough resources to feed the once that are already there.
