Abbott Health Inc. improves water quality in rural communities near to where they operate

Abbott Health Product, Inc. has been working to support local efforts to improve rural drinking water systems in Puerto Rico.

In Puerto Rico, rural communities near the Abbott Health Inc. laboratories have drinking water systems that fail to meet current standards, undermining the health of employees, straining local resources and affecting productivity. The company has worked to improve drinking water systems. They helped to organise the Partnership for Pure Water (PPW) to assist communities with water systems not served by the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority, aiming to improve the quality, operation and infrastructure of rural drinking water systems to bring them in compliance with current standards. They identify communities in need of assistance and consider their degrees of organisation, the magnitude of deficiencies of the water system and the distance from the participating industries.
