VIDA USA (Volunteers for Inter-American Development Assistance)
VIDA (Volunteers for Inter-American Development Assistance) was founded by a group of San Francisco Bay Area Residents who decided to take action in response to the cholera epidemic that broke out in Peru in early 1991. They collected more than $2 million worth of medical supplies and distributed them to 21 hospitals and hundreds of clinics throughout Peru. Since that time, VIDA has extended its efforts throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, shipping over 152 ocean containers carrying medical aid to several countries in this region. VIDA’s top priority is to send quality medical supplies to people in the greatest need in Latin America. In addition to medical aid, VIDA is committed to the development of educational programs and projects focused on preventing injury and illness before they occur.
