AMREF is an NGO whose mission is to empower people in Africa to enjoy better health. Its headquarters are in Kenya, with field offices in 5 other African countries; major programmes in South Sudan, Somalia and Rwanda; and fundraising offices in 12 countries in North America and Europe. AMREF's three core strategies are capacity building, operation research and advocacy. Its priority intervention areas include HIV/AIDS, malaria, water and basic sanitation, and disaster management and response.
