Since it was founded in 1972, Accounting Aid Society has devoted itself to helping seniors and low-income families by providing tax assistance and related financial services. Operating in the US state of Michigan, the organisation has, with the help of its 650 volunteers, returned some US$138 million to low-income earners through tax refunds and credits. Besides operating free tax preparation assistance, it also provides community resource centres, low-income tax clinics and a summer tax program.
